<description><![CDATA[Shark attack victim Chris Boyd, killed at Umbies off Gracetown in WA, mourned by Coolum surfing community<br/><br/>Tributes are flowing for surfer Chris Boyd who was killed by a shark off the https://www.goldengooseshoesit.com/ south-west coast of Western Australia on Saturday.<br/><br/>The 35-year-old father of two was attacked while surfing the Umbies break off Gracetown, about 270 kilometres south of Perth.<br/><br/>Boyd, who moved with his family from Queensland to WA for work about a year ago, grew up on the Sunshine Coast where he was a member of the Coolum Boardriders Club.<br/><br/>Friend Simon Valentine says the club is in mourning following his death. <br/><br/>"Everyone was up here last night just realising what had happened - it hasn't hit home yet," he said.<br/><br/>"He loved the sport, loved surfing, and that's the way he wanted to go."<br/><br/>Coolum Boardriders Club member Daniel Maudsely says Boyd was a mentor to younger surfers. Always out surfing with me," he said.<br/><br/>"He's been a really great mentor both with my surfing and development as a young man. He's going to be sorely missed in the local surfing community."<br/><br/>Boardriders president Daryl Maudsley says the club has taken Mr Boyd's death particularly hard.<br/><br/>"It's one of those surreal sort <b><A href="https://www.goldengooseshoesit.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Golden Goose</a></b> of moments. You never think it will happen to someone you know. And Chris, being such a gregarious and popular person, his loss is being felt probably more than some people's would," he said.]]></description>
