1997 Isuzu (Holden Rodeo) 2 Marlboro Black Menthol.8 T Diesel. Done 235000 Klm, 4K Klm since Pump injector overhaul. Last 1000 Klm on start up runs rough (down a cyl)blow lots white smoke Cigarettes Brands. Run over 1200 rpm for 4 minuts and clears up runs smooth. Hit throttle and belches some white smoke and raw diesel smell. Checked fuel filters, pressurised fuel tank when full of fuel, started with turbo intake removed turbo spinning, waste gate not seized, no fuel or oil in coolant, engine blow by comparable to other 2.8's. Have not done compression test, leaning towards timing or over fueling Best Menthol Cigarettes.

This can happen at low idle for extended periods. Turn up the idle knob for long periods of idle. Otherwise it may be a bad wastegate in the turbo blowing oil in the exhaust. Take off the muffler and see if there is oil in the downpipe. A turbo can be purchased for around $1500. Can also be a cracked ring.
