Skins with Validation
av84doh Posts 1

Is it possible to add skins with validation? We play that you must at least make a par to win a skin (bogey can't win a skin) and the player must validate by making par or better on the next hole. If another player in the group beats the player trying to validate (with a birdie or better) then he steals the previous skins and is not trying to validate on the next hole. We also give 1/2 shot on each handicap hole where the strokes fall. There is no validating necessary after the 18th hole. Also, if a player gets all the skins (quite rare) then he "sweeps" and the skins are worth double the money!

Summer season - Fall season

As October rolls in, we here at GolfStakes would like to thank all of those members who used the site during this summers golf season. We were pretty quite around the site development wise because we've been hard at work at getting a new tournament system developed and deployed. As we continue through the short fall season we would like to encourage all of you to take a look at your accounts and favorite courses. Let us know if you see something that you'd like to have different or a feature that you feel would make GolfStakes even better.

The Duke Gibson Classic

Starting on August 6th, 7th and 8th, GolfStakes.com is going to be used to track and score our very first large scale tournament at the Blue Hills Country Club in Kansas City. The Duke Gibson Classic is an annual event and will for the very first time be scored in real time using GolfStakes.com's new tournament management features.
Player's scores will be tracked during the three day event with daily adjustments made automatically via the GolfStakes.com scoring engine. During each daily round, players and spectators will have the opportunity to watch the action on GolfStakes.com live leader board.
After several long months of work, we here at GolfStakes.com are excited about bringing the power of GolfStakes.com to a large scale tournament. We look forward to letting you know how the event went and where we'll be going with the tournament management features.

Help with side game

We haven't forgotten about this request.
For the last three months we have been focused on creating tournament specific functionality. We have a beta deployment date for early August for the tournament functionality and a general release of the functionality soon after that. Once things slow back down for tournaments we will once again be able to get back on to creating side games and adding in feature requests from users.
Thanks for staying on top of this request.

Change pars on course

Thank you for pointing out this discrepancy. The course details that we use for our database was purchased from a 3rd party and was not hand verified by us as to being 100% correct.
After visiting the Safari Golf Club's website I see that we currently have the same slope, rating and par that they have on the score card listed on the website. We'll contact the course and see if we can confirm what they're showing on their website is correct or if there has been any recent change.
Thank you for pointing this out to us.

I get this message when entering scores:
"Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index"
What does this mean?

We are United States centric right now. You can certainly add your own courses, but you do have to enter a state. I'll try to update it in the next few weeks so that the state doesn't have to be entered. I do need to add some country codes and make it easier to enter courses in other countries. We'll be trying to address that as we go forward.
I know it's probably a bit of a hassle right now to give it a fake state, so we'll make sure we get it in the schedule of things to change. RIght now we're doing some custom work on it for a tournament in August. After that rolls around we'll have more time to work on things like this.
Thanks for the post.

Hi, are there also members from outside America? You cannot even add a course for another country.... It looks like the hole concept is for USA or?
Greetings,

I've done some initial work to get it worked in. I think the week after memorial day will be when I get it pushed out. Sorry for the delay.

Chane of a par on a golf course

The only thing I noticed is that if you click the pencil to edit the tees and then click the pencil to edit another tee, then your changes wouldn't be saved. You have to either press add tee, or save course.
I'll still be looking at this closer.

1) Why aren't handicaps for each hole included on the score cards? Handicaps aren't included with the holes simply because the source we purchased the data from did not have that information. We couldn't find any company that had that information. So we do the best we can and simply try to get the ones we need as we come across them. We certainly wish we could have had the data already there, but it just wasn't available.

There should be no reason that the entered handicaps did not save. I just did a sample and it seemed to work fine. Look up the course, hit edit course data. There is a pencil icon next to the tees, hit it and it will load up the tee to edit. Enter the handicaps, press add tee. Save course. I'll be trying some variations shortly to see if there are ways where it won't save. Make sure you look for errors at the top of the page, or red boxes around the tee information. If there are red boxes around some of the handicaps on holes, then the handicaps didn't work out correctly.

It always has a logical flow to the creators. Always feel free to make suggestions about ways to improve the UI.
Thanks
