"This year, multiple silhouettes were able to celebrate momentous anniversaries, but few are as esteemed or as storied as the adidas superstar, the adidas original who has had quite a bit of history with not only Run DMC but notable celebrities even thereafter. Now, as the model continues to embark on its celebrations, it’s poised to receive yet another mash-up with an adjacent hero, namely the Streetball whose likeness was only recently interpreted for modernity’s sake. Rather than be structurally transformed, the pair instead chooses to don the aforementioned’s most signature palette — black and orange — using it in seldom as it dyes the Stripes and heel tabs dark while leaving the inner lining the vibrant orange.

From a limited gold adidas ultra boost (which sold out quickly) to the pending Prada adidas collaboration unveiling a Metallic Silver Superstar, The Three Stripes Brand has made headlines over the last week. And with more solo and collaborative releases in the works, adidas plans to continue its impressive run. On the latter end, the German sportswear behemoth is revisiting its partnership with Disney, only this time giving Goofy the spotlight on an upcoming Ultra Boost.

Arriving much later than expected is the Reflective angle on the adidas yeezy, the dark-colored, gum-soled offering by the YEEZY circle on March 21st. This official image of the release reveals the same composition as the standard model, but with the high-vis reflective stripe on the porous mesh stripe that sits on the upper of the knit shell. Priced at $220 and available exclusively at Yeezy Supply, these Yeezy 350s are sure to disappear fast – as all the Reflective variants do.

Akin to the nike air max 90, which effectively kicked off the model’s return-to-OG-shape, this pair’s overall ensemble is left neutral. Various shades of white – namely “Bone” and “Sail” – divvy up the Air Max 90‘s most iconic components. Among them, mudguards, cassettes and TPU panels. Suede overlays across the forefoot and midfoot stand out from the bunch given their slightly darker shade and hairy texture. Yet, they pale in statement-making when compared to both insoles and outsoles: The former features Tom Sachs-like “Just Do It” branding and is constructed from cork à la 25th Anniversary Air Max 90 Cork; the latter is reminiscent of the forthcoming, fully-upcycled Space Hippie line.

If Nike’s recent experiments are any indicator, sneakers and golf are slowly becoming more and more intertwined, as the sport’s signature athletes are hitting the green in a variety of classic releases. We’ve seen the Air Jordan 5 refitted for the fields as well as a round of Swarovski encrusted classics, and now we’re soon to see the nike air max 97 in its retooled state in a new colorway. But even despite its new pastime, the upper is still true to its original as the layers from bottom-most to top arrive in a standard leather and mesh pairing. Its palette is given a coat of triple white — surely dirtying up well after some time on the course — while accents such as the embroidered swoosh and heel tab color to match the grey of the newly added tread. Spiked for performance, the pair is perfectly equipped and can still easily be worn for lifestyle if one sees fit. "
