OutsoleBesides being a fan of adidas¡¯ midsole Nike Air Max 2014 Schoenen Uitverkoop Nederland compounds, I also generally like their outsole designs and compounds. The XT 5 has three different compounds with their proprietary Traxion on the lateral and medial forefoot (outer forefoot ¡°ring¡±), adiwear on the heel (heel ¡°ring¡±), and Continental rubber (which is fantastic) on the ball and middle of heel. The latter is great for traction on rocks, even when wet.The biggest change adidas made to the XT 5 outsole from v4 was that they significantly reduced the lug depth for v5. I think this was a good call as it makes the shoe run much closer to its road counterparts than the older XT models. It has sufficient traction for technical terrain, but it handles hardpack great and even runs ok on the road.
I haven¡¯t put enough miles on these to address durability claims, but I can speak to the temperature effect. I live in New Hampshire, and this time of year it¡¯s pretty darned cold. Below freezing most days, and the low is projected to be right around O degrees Fahrenheit tomorrow night. Cold. A lot of shoes with EVA soles start feeling lik e bricks when you run in cold weather like this. They lose their cush. I can attest that the Boost remains bouncy when running in cold temps, but again you¡¯ll only really notice it in the heel. To me, this might be the most revolutionary attribute of the Boost compound.
8. La Sportiva Mutant, Spring 2015 ¨C I¡¯ve always liked La Sportiva¡¯s design, philosophy, and aesthetic, but unfortunately haven¡¯t always liked the shoes in practice other than the X-Country (now discontinued), Bushido, and to some extent the Crossover GTX for winter (original version, haven¡¯t tried the 2.0). The Mutant takes a lot of what I like about La Sportiva (sticky rubber, mountain specific design) and possibly adds a more comfortable upper to the equation with what looks like a slightly wider last. I¡¯ve really wanted to like many of their other models but either found them far to heavy and stiff or too narrow (Helios in particular). Interested to try this one on to see if La Sportiva can finally put it all together in an all-out mountain shoe.
A few weeks ago I wrote a post introducing adidas¡¯ ¡°natural running¡± adipure line of shoes, and included some thoughts on the adipure Adapt, which looks and feels pretty much like a water sock. I liked the feel of the Adapt, but from an aesthetic standpoint it was severely lacking. However, I had high hopes for the other two shoes in the adipure line: the adidas adipure Gazelle in particular looked like my kind of shoe. Last week adidas sent me a pair of the Gazelles to try out(disclosure: these were free samples for review purposes), and my overall experience so far has been phenomenal.
As Adidas ZX Flux Schoenen Sale Online I mentioned above, the sole of the Gazelle feels very similar to that of the Adapt. Sole dimensions listed on Running Warehouse are 17mm heel, 11mm forefoot, and overall shoe weight for my size 10 is about 6oz (measured on my scale).
I¡¯ve already mentioned the bouncy feel in Boost shoes, but it¡¯s worth pointing out that the bouncy sensation really only applies to the heel in the Boost shoes that I¡¯ve tried. I think that once the sole thickness drops below a certain height the bouncy sensation disappears and the sol Adidas Jeremy Scott Wings Schoenen Sale Outlet e takes on a firmer feel (less room for sole deformation).
