Rolf Harris opens Glastonbury
A man and a didgeridoo were the unlikely opening act on the main stage at Glastonbury festival, as Australian Rolf Harris warmed up the crowds for Snoop Dogg and Gorillaz.
The 80-year-old entertainer and Golden Goose Sale artist, who is a major personality in Britain, started his set on the Pyramid stage with hit song Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport, which he wrote more than 50 years ago.
Tens of thousands of revellers, bleary-eyed from dancing and partying the night before, sang along and Golden Goose Mens Sale cheered.
During his performance, which also included The Court of King Caractacus, Harris was accompanied by a didgeridoo.
Fans basked Golden Goose Sneakers in hot sunshine, ate ice creams and wore bikinis, shorts and sandals.
Weather forecasts suggest the event, which attracts nearly 180,000 people to a dairy farm in south-west England each year, is likely to avoid the rain that can turn it into a mudbath.
People were still arriving on Friday ahead of the first headline act late in the evening.Gorillaz take over from U2British band Gorillaz, fronted by Blur singer Damon Albarn, will fill the slot vacated by Irish rockers U2 who had to cancel when lead singer Bono pulled out after back surgery.
The switch appeared to be generally Golden Goose Sneakers Sale popular among the Glastonbury crowd.
"I think they'll be better than U2," said Stephen, a 24-year-old from Newcastle. "They are much more up to date and have some Golden Goose Womens Sale great people joining them."
Albarn is expected to be joined by Lou Reed during the set, and Mos Def and Bobby Womack, who also collaborated with the band on its latest album Plastic Beach, may take to the stage in a carnival-style performance.
Smaller stages opened on Thursday, and Vanilla Ice and Boy George were among the better-known acts to perform.
