The Cleveland Cavaliers are off to a 9 2 start and are winners of eight straight games as of November 19 and they?ve already leapfrogged the Boston Celtics to become the favorite to win the Eastern Conference this season. Wally Szczerbiak?s expiring contract is sure to be a hot commodity towards the deadline for teams trying to clear space. This could allow the Cavs to bring in another quality player. A trade of Szczerbiak to the Knicks for Zach Randolph would make sense, as Randolph could provide the Cavs with a viable option down low and the expiring deal would help the Knicks salary cap woes.
Imagine a starting lineup of James, Williams, West, Randolph and Zydrunas Ilgauskas with guys like McDyess, Daniel Gibson and Anderson Varajeo coming off the bench. James took the Cavs to the finals when his biggest running mates were Larry Hughes, Varajeo and Pavlovic. Just think of what the team could do with two guys who can score while James is on bench. The Cavs did lose to the Celtics in the opener, but LeBron and company are playing like a different team now and the next matchup between the two (Jan.9) should be very telling of how things stand in the Eastern Conference.
