For those that have been managing their friends through GolfStakes we have made a few changes to the site. First you'll notice under your friends list that you can now see your friends avatars, along with their screen name the last time they were logged in and a few links that will allow you to send a message to them or to remove them from the list.

Read our blog entry for futher information about this update.

I would like to say that this has been a very helpful thread, and we really appreciate the input from mmartin68 with the side game information.

Maybe "Handicapped League Scoring". I've talked to 4 other guys and they have no other name for it. I really appreciate your diligence in doing this for me. This is a great resource for us golfers.

Thanks for the added description. That helps a lot.

Is there a common name for this game that you know of?

It will probably be at least a week or so before we can really get it in. I'll make sure i send you an e-mail when I get it pushed out.

There is one point given regardless of tie. This is the way we get half points in our results. One golfer plays one other golfer. there can be half points given even for the net score of 9 holes. Like last night here were our scores

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 tot net HDCP
MM 5 4 4 5 4 5 6 6 4 43 35 8 for 9 holes
JK 6 4 5 6 5 4 6 6 6 48 38 10 for 9 holes

MM took holes 1, 3, 4, 5, 9, and net
JK took 6, 7 (by handicap)
1/2 pts on 2, 8
MM had to give JK 2 strokes given on 6 & 7
MM had 7 (5 holes won , 1 for net win, and 2 .5 pt )
JK had 3 (2 holes won, and 2 .5 pts)

It is a wash but it is a 10 point match and those 1/2 points can add up. If you could add that I would be eternally grateful , like I said earlier I really like using this and I think this would be a tool to get more league members to use this.

Thanks Mike Martin

Thanks for the help, but is there a way you guys could add something like that because it is a common thing in leagues that I have seen. If it 1 point per hole and with handicap you tie both guys get a 1/2 point and if you win the hole outright you would be awarded a point. Just wondering???

We can absolutely add new games. Right now we've been pretty busy, but I'll try to sneak it into an update coming up. So this is only played between 2 people? Both guys getting a half point would really end up being a wash wouldn't it?

Thanks

Sounds like you could use 2 games to make the game you guys play. You could play a skins ( with or without carryover ) and a best ball. The skins would give you the point per hole, and the best ball would give you the low net winner.

You can check the sample round I made. You'll have to be logged in to view it.
10 Point Results

I made it easy to look at, both players have a 0 handicap. kbingham won every hole, and had the lower net. So he gets nine points for each skin, skins are weighted as 1.00. I also had low net on best ball, so I won that, the weight was set at 1.00. So on the totals, you can see that I took 9 from skins and 1 from best ball for all 10 points.

I've changed all the tees on the course to have the information from the courses website, so they should be all good.

You can actually edit the course yourself when you are logged in. So if there is ever anything that doesn't look right, you can add a new tee, or correct old ones.

Thanks for the heads up though. We bought the data from a 3rd party and quite a few courses don't have the right information.
